The coach of the Netherlands national team, Louis Van Gaal has successfully undergone cancer treatment.
The former Manchester United and Barcelona head coach made the announcement on Tuesday, over a week after he announced on a TV programme that he was suffering with prostrate cancer.
The announcement had cast doubts about whether he will be able to make it back in time for the Qatar World Cup set to commence in November of this year.
“I’ve been through everything,” the 70-year-old said.
“I had 25 radiation treatments. Then I had to wait five or six months to see if it had done its job. It did.”
This is the third time he is managing his country and will hope to do better than the 3rd place finish he led them to in 2014.
Netherlands next face Belgium, Wales and Poland in the UEFA Nations League which kicks off in June.
