On Thursday morning, men of the Lagos State Police Command clashed with commercial motorcycle riders, popularly known as Okada, in Ojo area of the state, resulting in many injuries.
It was gathered that the Okada riders were trying to resist the enforcement the ban, Lagos State Government placed on them in selected areas of the state.
Officers of the Onireke police station, Ojo impounded some motorcycles on Wednesday, only for the motorcyclists to mobilise and storm the police station in their numbers.
The aggrieved cyclists also burnt some tyres in the middle of the road, in protest, even as they attempted to raid the station and free their members.
They attacked the station with stones and sticks, as the police men fired their rifles in the air in a bid to Disperse them.
The fracas left some persons injured, as both pedestrians and car owners plying that axis had to abandon their vehicles and run for safety.
As at the time of filing this report, anti-riot police and military personnel have been mobilised to the area to restore normalcy.
