Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has alleged that Nigerians go to Indonesia to commit crimes such as drug smuggling and cultism and afterwards, would start begging the Nigerian government for a rescue.
The former Nigerian Television Authority newscaster and two time House of Representatives member made this assertion in response to a Twitter user who accused her of inefficiency, wastefulness and mismanagement.
The Twitter handle @sensegiver1 in turn was responding to a story of Nigerian students being attacked in India by their counterparts which was allegedly caused by a disagreement over a football match. Others also alleged that the crisis started due to audacity of Nigerian students to use the football pitch for prayers some weeks ago.
Reports emerging from India has it that the crisis started on the campus of GD Goenka University in Haryana on Saturday and as at the time of this report has already been quelled by the Indian authorities.
Confirming the return of peace and normalcy on the campus, the CEO of NIDCOM stated that, “The Nigerian mission immediately took custody of 86 Nigerian students,invited the representatives of the Indian govt, got their commitment to ensure safety of the students”.

In 2016, the Indonesian authorities executed 3 Nigerians for smuggling drugs into the country.
