On September 15, 2022, visitors to an auto show held in Detroit, Michigan, were treated to what looked like scenes straight out of a sci-fi movie.
There, they saw the world’s first flying bike, as it made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show.
The bike, which was made in Japan and dubbed the Xturismo hover bike, made its debut in 2021 and has since gone on sale in Japan.
The Xturismo which is being built by Japanese start-up, Aerwins Technologies, can reach a maximum speed of 99.8km/h or 62mph.
The bike can hover in the air for a maximum duration of 40 minutes.
The estimated price for the hover bike in the United States is $777, 000 or N334, 537, 350.
The company is currently working on a smaller and cheaper electric version of the hover bike. And when that is done, they hope to make it so affordable that it can be sold for $50, 000
