Benue people took to the streets to celebrate the defeat of their governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom in the Benue zone B senatorial election.
The sitting governor was floored by Titus Zam of the APC, in a closely contested election conducted last Saturday.
Ortom’s 8 year tenure has seen him relegate the needs of the people, like payment of salaries and pensions, to the background.
The former minister has instead used state funds to build private companies for himself, one of which is International College of Technology(ICT), Makurdi.
During this time, he has used religion and his firm stance against Fulani herdsmen to win the favour of Benue people.
The state has been left impoverished, with little or no developmental projects carried out during his tenure as governor.
His bad governance has made his own people turn on him, hence the celebrative mood they assumed today after he lost the election.
