An official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been reportedly killed by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a video obtained by SWITCH NIGERIA, the gunmen ordered the INEC Officials and residents to lie down, as they continued issuing warnings.
In the clip, they could be heard saying they don’t want any election in the area, referring to the voter registration that was scheduled to hold at Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State, on Thursday.
While one of the gunmen kept talking, another fired several rounds on one man.
INEC PRO, Festus Okoye, who confirmed this in a statement identified the victim as Anthony Nwokorie.
“As you can see, these are the stupid people we are fighting for to have their freedom. (But), they are here planning for election,” one of the gunmen was heard saying.

He continued, “Today is 14th of April, we have sent warning to you people. We don’t want any election. No more elections. No more voter cards. Do you think we are here to joke?”
