Today, March 2, makes it five years since one of Nigeria’s most vicious and dreaded kidnap kingpin and armed robbery chief, Henry Onyekachi Chibueze, popularly known as “Vampire” was killed by the Nigeria Police Force.
Vampire was killed on March 2, 2017 by the now disbanded Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team in a gun duel at Omu Awa forest in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.
The criminal had been terrorising people of the south east and south south area of the country, with wanton destruction to lives and kidnapping for ransom.
He had also killed his girlfriend, Sandra Ijedinnma and her family members at her Igando Lagos home in 2013 after he accused her of stealing his N45 million naira.
This and other of his crimes led to his arrest in 2015 by the Department of State Services, DSS.
He had confessed to the operatives of the secret service that he ventured into crime because his family did not train him.
Furthermore, he confessed that he had killed over 200 people in his various criminal exploits across the country and neighbouring countries like Benin Republic, Niger and Ivory Coast.
He had been declared wanted by the police and the Imo State government after his kidnap gang attacked the Owerri High Court on January 27, 2017 and rescued him from prison officials while he was being arraigned in court.
