Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored two goals and set up an assist, to help Napoli defeat Juventus 5-1 in Serie A on Friday night inside the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.
Prior to Friday’s game Juventus had not conceded a single goal in Serie A for eight games.
The 24-year-old Nigerian International’s opener was his first Serie A goal against Juventus at his fourth appearance against them, ending Bianconeri’s fifth longest streak without conceding in the competition (770 minutes).
Osimhen has now taken his goals in the Italian topflight to 12 in 14 appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s men.
He has found the back of the net four times in his last five league games.
The win against Juventus means Napoli, on 47 points, temporarily go 10 points clear of champions AC Milan.
Also, Juventus have conceded five goals in a Serie A match for the first time since 30 May 1993 (1-5 v Pescara)while Napoli have scored five goals against the Bianconeri for the second time in their history in the competition, after 20 November 1988.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 14th minute, heading into the back of the net from close range off a rebound.
He then turned provider as he laid the ball for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to make it 2-0 on 39 minutes.
Argentina Qatar 2022 World Cup winner Angel Di Maria pulled a goal back for Juventus three minutes before halftime.
But 10 minutes into the second half Napoli went 3-1 up thanks to Amir Rrahmani.
In the 65th minute Osimhen added the fourth goal for Napoli with another header before Eljif Elmas completed the rout by adding the fifth goal on 72 minutes.
With 12 minutes left to play Osimhen was withdrawn for Giacomo Raspadori.
