Some persons belonging to the LGBTQ in the United States are creating awareness for their Nigerian counterparts.
The acronym LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. It is the umbrella body for those who subscribe to these lifestyles and who believe their sexual preferences define their identities.

The information on the gofundme website read, “Matthew has been traveling through the United States from Nigeria, collecting stories, support, and building solidarity amongst queer and trans siblings in the diaspora for the past few months. Through this advocacy, They realized the need to spread not only awareness but also offer a means of tangible support to vulnerable Queer and Trans people in Nigeria.”
“They decided to extend their stay in the U.S. for another month to meet with more individuals and community leaders even further throughout Pride Month.”This initiative is dedicated to setting up an Emergency Fund for Queer and Trans people living in Nigeria.”Our goal of $50,000 will assist with providing necessities like food, clothing, housing, and medical bill assistance to Queer and Trans Nigerians in need.”The necessity of this Emergency Fund is more urgent now than ever, with the emergence of the new restrictive Cross-dressing Bill that the Nigerian Parliament is currently considering, which places further scrutiny and violence on Queer, Trans and Gender Non-Conforming individuals in Nigeria.”So far, just over $3000 have been raised to that effect. However, the Nigerian LGBTQ community is growing in size, even though their activities have been largely restricted.As can be seen from the pictures above, once the LGBTQ community in Nigeria gains a voice, the open nudity that is on show in these pictures will become a common sight.
