There was fracas at the University of Benin in Edo State on Thursday evening, February 2, when some students of the institution and some soldiers clashed at an ATM outlet within the school premises.
This is happening due to the scarcity of Naira notes currently being experienced in the country.
Unconfirmed reports claim the soldiers arrived the ATM point and tried to jump the queue to use the ATM.
Switch Nigeria gathered that one of the soldiers had asked his female colleague to beat a female student, who they thought was filming a video of them as they tried to intimidate the students and use the ATM without being on the queue.

The students did not take the harassment lightly as they attacked the soldiers and forced them out of their school premises.
According to a tweep, “Soldiers came into Uniben to withdraw (money) from ATM. They forcefully used the machines and at one point asked a female soldierto beat up a female student because they thought she was recording them. The students did not take the harassment lightly as they retaliated.”
Normalcy has since returned to the school premises.
