Umar Sadiq, a Nigerian international, has said he will play again with Real Sociedad more sooner than expected after returning from injury.
The 25-year-old Super Eagle got injured during Real Sociedad’s La Liga match against Getafe, and after having surgery, his season was over.
Sadiq has acknowledged that he might play for the White and Blues sooner than expected, despite Sociedad doctors’ predictions that he will be sidelined for at least six months.
“I will be four months into my operation and rehabilitation by next month but I feel good already and will resume working on the pitch next month,” Sadiq said.
“That is way ahead of my schedule, It’s a miracle that even my doctors can’t believe. I am supposed to be out for at least six months and the doctors insist it has to be that time frame.’
“However, I have been told I must be 150% fit before I can return in order not to suffer a relapse but from the look of things I will be back in eight weeks. We will see to that or maybe even earlier.”
Sadiq replaced Alexander Isak by joining the White and Blues on deadline day, and he went on to have an incredible debut.
He had two La Liga goals for Almeria prior to the transfer, and on September 3, in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid, he scored his first goal for Sociedad.
Sadiq will keep working on his recovery in the hopes of starting up some light training sessions with the White and Blues again.
