UEFA has released the quarter final draw for the 8 remaining sides in the competition.
Last season’s winners, Chelsea, will first travel to Madrid to take on a Real Madrid side coached by former Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti, before the record holders will visit Stamford Bridge for the reverse fixture.
Another Madrid side, Atletico, will face another English side, this time, Manchester City, making it the third time they will come against an English opposition in this season’s Champions League. After they got beaten by Liverpool in both legs in the group stages, they would go on to eliminate Manchester United in the last season.
Liverpool will face Benfica, first in Portugal, before they host them at Anfield, where they recently lost to Internazionale, in the reverse fixture.
Bayern Munich, who like Liverpool, also have 6 Champions League wins to their name, will take on the Yellow Submarines, Villareal, who bested Italian giants, Juventus, in the last sixteen.
The winner of the Liverpool vs Benfica tie will take on the winner of the Bayern Munich vs Villareal tie. While the winner of the Manchester City vs Atletico Madrid tie will face off against the winner of the Real Madrid vs Chelsea tie.
The quarter final games will take place on 6/7 and 13/14 of April.
