Nigeria’s U20 national team, Flying Eagles on Friday beat Argentina Primerica National B team, Almirante Brown (3-2) in five-goal thriller.
Lawal Salem Fago scored the first goal in the first half for the U20 team before midfielder, Tochukwu Nnamdi scored the second in the second half.
Emmanuel Umeh sealed the win for Nigeria as Almirante Brown scored two goals to reduce the deficit to a 3-2 advantage to the Ladan Bosso led team.
The Flying Eagles, who are currently training in Buenos Aires for the FIFA U20 World Cup played the friendly with local side Almirante Brown on Friday night in preparation for the Colombia U20 friendly on the 16th of May before departing to Mendoza for their group games.
Almirante Brown currently plays in the Primera B Nacional, the 2nd division of the Argentine football league system. The team’s stadium is located in the Isidro Casanova district of the same partido where the friendly match against Nigeria U20 boys took place.
Head coach Ladan Bosso and his assistants have been drilling the players since Monday evening shortly after their arrival from Nigeria in making sure that the players are in good shape ahead of their group opener.
The Nigeria and Colombia U20 national team friendly match next Tuesday will hold at the Tristan Suarez Stadium in Buenos Aires at 4pm Argentine time (8pm Nigeria time).
The two times World Cup finalists are in group D of the FIFA U20 World Cup with Dominican Republic, Italy and Brazil. The 2015 African champions will entertain Dominican Republic in the group opener on 21st May, 2023 before trading tackles with Italy and Brazil.
