Tobi Amusan, the reigning world champion for 100 m hurdles, gained another accomplishment when she was named the fifth-best female athlete in 2022.
Using the athletics scoring tables, World Athletics assigned points to each athlete based on how well they performed throughout the season.With Amusan, she earned the majority of her points from her 12.12-second World Record (WR) run at the World Championships in Oregon, her 12.30-second victory at the Commonwealth Games, and her 12.29-second victory in the Diamond League.
The 12.12s is comparable to times of 10.67s for the 100 and 200 meters as well as 48.38s for the 400 meters. Additionally, the 100m, 200m, and 400m times in 12.29 seconds are 10.78, 21.90, and 48.96 respectively.
Sharicka Jackson, another Jamaican, is listed second on the list after sprints superstar Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
The triple jump queen of Venezuela, Yulimar Rojas, is in third place, and Sydney McLaughlin of the United States is in fourth.
Netherland’s 400m Hurdles sensation Femke Bol is sixth, Ethiopia’s middle distance runner Gudaf Tsegay is seventh, High Jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine is eighth, Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon is ninth, and Shot Put thrower Chase Ealey occupies the tenth position.
