A recent decampee to APC, Femi Fani-Kayode has praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to democracy.
The former Aviation Minister said this on Tuesday morning in a tweet he posted on his official Twitter account.
He raved about how the former Lagos State Governor, who is now running for the office of Nigeria’s president, has helped Nigeria’s democracy by pushing the Federal Government to immortalise late MKO Abiola, the adjudged winner of the 1993 presidential election, only for the military government led by Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida to annul it.
“BAT fought for the restoration of MKO Abiola’s June 12th mandate & 20 years after he was martyred he ensured that the Nat. Stadium was named after him & that June 12th was declared Democracy Day. There is no greater evidence of his commitment to democracy & justice than this.”
Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiolaran Abiola ran for the presidency in 1993, for which the election results were annulled by the preceding military president Ibrahim Babangida because of allegations that they were corrupt and unfair.
Abiola was awarded the GCFR posthumously on 6 June 2018 by President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria’s democracy day was changed to June 12.
