The last monarch of Greece and godfather of Prince William passed away at the age of 82, according to his physicians.
According to reports, lung issues forced Constantine II to be hospitalized last week in Athens, Greece.
Greek public broadcaster ERT reported that he passed away on January 11 after having a stroke.

The private Hygeia Hospital’s staff in Athens acknowledged that Constantine had passed away following treatment in a critical care unit, but they were unable to provide any other information until an official announcement.
From March 1964 until the end of Greece’s monarchy in 1973, he served as the country’s last king.
Prior to selling his home in 2013, he and his wife, Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark, spent many years residing in Hampstead in north London.
One of Greece’s most volatile political eras was presided over by him.
The 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome saw Constantine compete in sailing and earn a gold medal in the Dragon class.
