A Christian Church known as Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) based in the North Eastern part of the country has cried out about what it has termed persecution.
The EYN which is also known as Church of the Brethren is an Anabaptist Christian denomination who hold the New Testament as its only creed.
President of the EYN, Rev Joel Stephen Billi said despite the Federal Government’s promises to secure them, their members are still being abducted, killed and their churches destroyed.
Rev. Billi said this in his address at the 75th Majalisa held at the denomination’s headquarters in Kwarhi, Adamawa State, at the weekend.
The EYN President asked, “If truly the Federal Government is fighting insurgency and has uncovered the sponsors, why is the war endless? They should route out the sponsors and end the terror.”
“Nothing improves. We have become vulnerable in the hands of kidnappers, Boko Haram and ritual killers.”
Rev. Daniel Mbaya, who is the Secretary of EYN, told newsmen, “Many of our members were abducted recently and we have not heard about them. Many of our people cannot go to their farms. The situation is still terrible.
“Over 170 churches that the insurgency forced to close are yet to open. We have four District churches behind the Gwoza mountains (in Borno State) that are still closed.”
