Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has launched the Almajiri Nizzamiyah Education Model (ALNIZAMO) and signed two executive bills.
The two bills are those of the Arabic and Islamic Education Commission and the Zakkat and Waqf (Endowment) Commission.
In his speech, Governor Tambuwal said that the Sokoto government was transforming the almajiri educational system into a model one rather than eliminating it.
He said: “The system we are presently implementing is the one that is more acceptable in the world. This system will enhance the living standard of our children and improve their educational capacity toward a greater society. “
Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, and the committee members were complimented by Tambuwal for their steadfast efforts in making the event successful.
The Sultan also asked the administration to teach children’s native tongues as a top priority.
“Doing so will give room for proper understanding of what the children are expected to learn toward attaining a greater future,” the Sultan said.
