Football governing body, FIFA has released its latest rankings after the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Sunday.
Due to the away goals rule, the Super Eagles of Nigeria were eliminated from the World Cup in the most recent playoff round against fellow West African country Ghana, after a 1-1 draw in Abuja.
The Super Eagles were rated 31st in the world in May of this year when Jose Peseiro was hired as their head coach, but since his hiring, the squad has dropped down the FIFA rankings ladder.
The Latest fall for the Super Eagles now placed them in fifth place in Africa rankings behind Morocco (11), Senegal (19), Tunisia (29) and Cameroun (33).
