Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has announced that Wednesday, June 28, will be observed as the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 A.H in Nigeria. This declaration was made in a statement issued by Sa’idu Maccido, the secretary to the Sultanate Council, on Monday in Sokoto.
In his message, Mr Abubakar extended his felicitations to the Muslim Ummah and conveyed his wishes for Allah’s guidance and blessings. He also encouraged the Muslim faithful to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country. Furthermore, he expressed his well-wishes to Nigerians for a joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Dhul-Hijjah is the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims embark on the annual pilgrimage known as Hajj. Additionally, they celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival by sacrificing rams and other animals.
The statement reads: “Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the president-general of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has declared Monday, June 19, as the first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH.
“Therefore, Wednesday, June 28, which will be equivalent to the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, will be marked as 2023 Eid-el-Kabir.”
