In response to Professor Wole Soyinka’s recent media appearances, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has aimed a dig at the Nobel Laureate winner by asserting that he will never match Chinua Achebe’s stature.
Soyinka has recently criticised Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmend, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and the “Obidients,” calling the movement one of the most disgusting, off-putting concoctions he has ever encountered in a political setting. For this, he has come under fire and has been called many derogatory names.
Charly Boy who also joined the train said unfortunately, it has dawned on him that Soyinka could never be the man the late literary icon, Chinua Achebe was.
His tweet reads: “The kin respect I had for dis man, was almost the kind of respect I had for my stainless father, The Socrates of the Supreme Court.
“It has finally dawned on me that Soyinka can never be the man Chinua Achebe was.
“Look at a man many Nigerians put on such a high pedestal reducing himself to a boyiboyi for criminal politicians.
”What a f..king big shame.”
