Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has said he is convinced there are elements in Aso Rock who want his party, the APC to lose this month’s election.
Speaking on a Channels Television’s programme, El-Rufai said some persons are still hungover that their favourite candidate did not emerge victorious at the primaries.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu came tops at the APC Presidential primaries, with Rotimi Amaechi coming second, while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came third.
He said, “I believe that there are elements in the Villa that want us to lose the elections because they didn’t get their way.”
“They had their candidate; their candidate didn’t win the primaries and I think they are still trying to get us to lose the elections and they are hiding behind the President’s desire to do what he thinks is right.”
The former FCT Minister cited the seemingly belated removal of fuel subsidy as well as the current naira redesign and cash swap policy implemented by the Central Bank, few months to election.
Tinubu has also in one of his campaign rallies said the timing for the Naira redesign is bad, however boasting that whatever they do, he will emerge victorious at the polls.
