The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has announced that it will sue the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) for refusing to extend the continuous voter registration exercise.
In a statement released on their Twitter handle, SERAP said about 7 million Nigerians have been disenfranchised.
The statement read, “We’re suing INEC over its failure to allow over seven million Nigerians to complete their voter registration, after they have carried out their pre-registration online.”
According to INEC, less than 30 million Nigerians have PVCs and in a nation of over 200 million, that means just about 10% are going to participate in next year’s polls.
