The plan for Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term as Governor of Lagos State includes a stronger emphasis on social inclusion, gender inequity, and the youth.
The Governor made this known in his first statement after taking the oath of office during the ceremony for his appointment in Lagos’ Tafawa Balewa Square.
As he took the oath of office for a second term alongside his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu declared that his T.H.E.M.E.S. programme would advance if he focused more on youth, social inclusion, and gender equality.
Sanwo-Olu said: “I am pleased to announce that we are taking our THEMES governing agenda to the next level,” the governor said, adding that his administration had done well fulfilling its promises to the people of Lagos.
“T.H.E.M.E.S, as you already know, stands for Transportation and Traffic Management; Health and Environment; Education and Technology; Making Lagos State a 21st Century Megacity, Entertainment and Tourism; and Security and Governance.
“Henceforth, it will be known as ‘T.H.E.M.E.S+’, the ‘plus’ representing the incorporation of an intensified focus, in these next four years, on social inclusion, gender equality and youth.”
