Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State made surprise visits to healthcare facilities in the state to ensure the implementation of healthcare palliatives introduced as part of efforts to mitigate the economic impact of the fuel subsidy removal.
During these visits, the governor inspected Island Maternity Hospital on Lagos Island and General Hospital, Odan. The latter had witnessed a tragic incident involving the loss of a medical doctor’s life, Dr Vwaere Diaso.
Sanwo-Olu’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, stated on Monday that the governor’s objective was to supervise the execution of the health palliative initiative he had launched across the state-owned General Hospitals in Lagos.
This health palliative initiative covers expenses related to normal pregnancy delivery, Caesarean Section procedures, and antenatal care conducted in state-owned hospitals.
Akosile said the governor “walked quietly into the hospital’s maternity ward where two expectant mothers were being examined” catching the medical personnel unawares.
