It isn’t the best of weeks for Nigerian musician, Asake whose concert at 02 Brixton Academy in London on Thursday took an unexpected turn when fans who didn’t buy tickets forced their way into the venue, resulting in injuries to some fans present at the show.
As it stands, a second death has been recorded, following the first which was confirmed on Saturday to be a 33-year-old woman named Rebecca Ikumelo from Newham East London.
The recent victim who died due to the forceful entrant in Thursday’s concert is confirmed to be a security guard named Gabrielle Hutchinson who’s a worker at O2 Brixton Academy.
23-year-old Gabrielle Hutchinson takes the death toll to two, amongst a handful of critically injured persons.
Florence Eshalomi, the MP for Vauxhall whose constituency includes Brixton, said she felt “utterly heartbroken” by the deaths of the two women.
It’s now a matter of time before the perpetrators are brought to book, as BBC reports that the Metropolitan Police Officers are now reviewing CCTV, and phone footages, speaking to witnesses and conducting forensic examinations to look for Asake’s party crashers.
