Medical reports have confirmed that Chelsea’s Reece James may miss the World Cup due to the knock he picked against AC Milan.
The 23-year-old may be facing a long spell on the treatment table after experts confirmed the injury is more serious than earlier thought.
The Cobham Academy graduate went down in the second half after a seemingly fair challenge from Theo Hernandez and was able to continue playing after receiving treatment on the pitch.
However he was not able to last long as he was soon replaced by Cezar Azpilicueta.
Further scans carried out on the knee on Thursday have revealed that the injury might be worse than earlier thought. At the moment, his position in England’s World Cup squad is under serious doubts, even though medical experts are yet to ascertain how much time he will require to get back on the pitch. Similarly, they are yet to ascertain whether the knee requires surgery.
