Paris Saint Germain have sacked head coach, Mauricio Pochettino after just 18 months in charge.
The former Southampton manager has has a torrid time in the capital of France, especially with high earning playing staff like Messi and Mbappe.
It was always going to be tough for the Argentine, who was signed to help the Parisans win the UEFA Champions League, something the club has never done in their history.
They managed to reach the semi final last term, and after beating Madrid in France by 2 goals to nothing, they were unable to withstand the onslaught Carlo Ancelotti’s men unveiled on them in the return leg, with a Karim Benzema masterclass making sure they were dumped out.
Despite clinching the Ligue 1 title in April, the former Spurs manager got booed by large sections of the fan base who blamed him for the below average performances PSG put out sometimes.
In a statement by the club, they thanked him and wished him well.
“Paris Saint-Germain confirm that Mauricio Pochettino has ended his role at the Club.”
“The Club would like to thank Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for their work and wish them the best for the future,” the statement read.
As per Mirror UK, Christophe Galtier is expected to be officially appointed as his successor this week.
Galtier, 55, has previously managed Lille and Nice, leading the latter to a fifth-place finish last season.
The Argentine interrupted PSG’s dominance in the French league by clinching the Ligue 1 title with Lille in 2021. Galtier’s man-management has seen him garner plenty of plaudits, with Renato Sanches, Jonathan David and Mike Maignan among those he’s managed to get the best out of.
