The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says operatives from its Benin Zonal command on Sunday May 22, 2022 arrested 22 suspected internet fraudsters, otherwise known as “Yahoo Boys.”
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren and made available to SWITCH NIGERIA.
According to the statement, the suspects are: Promise Bassey, Raymond Diamond, Ifeanyi Anyasi, Celestine Osalenlen, Johnbull Kingsley, Ikekhua Mately, Clifford Johnson, Akorah Chinedu, Kester Ogochukwu Idugba Junior and Lucky Egwuatu.
It said others are Victor Nwabunwanna, Happiness Ayo, Rawlings Nwabunwanna, Eleka Ikeja, Oliseh Emeka, Ozuwa Destiny, Prince Erik Nnamdi, Emmanuel Ochuku Igben, Tochukwu Onyido, Gift Onuajefe and Odosun Matthew.
Continuing, the statement revealed that the suspects were arrested at their hideout in Asaba, Delta State following actionable intelligence.
“Items recovered from them include two Mercedes Benz GLK 350 4Matic and mobile phones,” the statement reads.
“The suspects have made useful statements and will be arraigned in court soon.”
