Pep Guardiola has taken aim at rival Premier League clubs and fans amid the charges leveled against Manchester City.
While speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Villa clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, Pep reassured the public that he is not going to leave Manchester City while addressing the press on the allegations leveled against City.
“They open a precedent right now,” he said.
“What happened to us, be careful. What happened to us, there are a lot of (other) clubs that could be accused in the future.
“We can accept it if they do not like how we behave but let us defend ourselves. There are a lot of things, there are suggestions, there are no sentences.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola believes the charges have been driven by rival clubs.
Asked if this was the case, he said: “Of course – it is the Premier League. I don’t know why. You have to ask the CEOs, [Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy, these kinds of people.”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola insists he will not turn his back on the club after more than 100 charges threatened their Premier League future.
He said: “I am NOT moving from this seat. I can assure you more than ever that I want to stay. More than ever!
“Now I don’t want to move on. Not because the people say, ‘They lied to you Pep’. They did not lie to me.
“Look what happened with UEFA, we did not do anything wrong. Now is the same case. Why should I not trust my people?”
Pep Guardiola criticised outside parties for being quick to pass judgement after Man City were charged by the Premier League.
He said: “We are lucky we live in a country where everyone is innocent until proven guilty. It seems like we have already been sentenced.
“What is going to happen, I don’t know. We think we have good lawyers and I know we are going to defend our position.”
Guardiola also claimed his players will not be affected by the matter.
He said: “We have trained like normal to try to beat Aston Villa. The court will dictate what happens. I am fully convinced that we will be innocent.”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed confidence in the club’s position after they were charged with 115 breaches of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules this week.
Guardiola has previously said he would leave the club if accusations were proved true.
City previously had a ban for breaching UEFA’s FFP regulations overturned following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020.
Guardiola said: “My first thought is we’ve already been condemned, as happened with UEFA. We had accusations. The club proved we were completely innocent. You know what side I am on.”
