Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue State has chosen to side with embattled Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu.
Asked whether he supports the clamour for the removal of Ayu as Party chairman, Ortom who was formerly of the APC, said it is impossible for him to support the removal of the man he supported for the job.
Ortom’s stand, however, negates that held by his close friend, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Wike has been calling for the replacement of Ayu since the party bypassed him for the VP spot. Since then, Wike has insisted that Ayu be sacked and replaced by a Southerner, even though some have argued that Ayu is a Middlebelt Christian, and so it should not matter.
