Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, has urged for tranquillity and order in the ancient city of Ile-Ife and its surroundings.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Ile-Ife, Ooni, speaking via his Second-in-Command, Obalufe of Ifeland, Oba Idowu Adediwura, made the declaration.
He asserted that there was no justification for upheaval in his land because he was the global champion of peaceful coexistence and the royal father of Christians, Muslims, and traditionalists.
He held that there was no valid reason why people of different faiths couldn’t coexist in harmony and tolerance.
He pointed out that traditional worshippers and the two main religions have coexisted peacefully in the past, so there shouldn’t be animosity between them now.
Oba Ogunwusi pledged to pay the mosque’s Imam’s hospital expenses in addition to renovating the damaged mosque.
Recall that on Thursday, worshippers of traditional religions attacked those of the mosque in Ile-Ile, allegedly injuring four people.
