The Ondo State government has announced measures to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal, which has led to increased economic hardship for citizens.
Wale Akinterinwa, the state Commissioner for Finance and chairman of the Palliative Strategy and Implementation Committee, shared the plans during a press briefing.
From September to December 2023, free shuttle buses will be available for students, while public servants will have access to CNG buses. The government will also assist tertiary institution students involved in nano businesses on campus.
Additionally, public servants will receive their 2020 leave bonus, and a social intervention scheme will provide N10,000 to residents in all local government areas, particularly the vulnerable and pensioners.
He said: “Unconditional Cash Transfer – For three months, ten thousand naira (N10,000) will be given to selected vulnerable persons in every local government.
“All pensioners in the state, be they local government or state, will get ten thousand Naira (N10,000) each starting this August till December 2023.”
