Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, is incensed by a rumor that Peter Obi will win the 2023 presidential election.
In a lengthy letter to Nigerians dated January 1st, the former head of state endorsed the Labour Party presidential standard bearer to lead the party.
“My dear young people, you need to band together and make a real, lasting change in your life.”
He said, “If you fail to rehabilitate yourself and your country, you will have missed the chance and will only be held accountable by posterity, who will not pardon you.”
The opposition and the ruling party were both shaken by the open announcement, which was viewed as a significant boost for Obi’s ambition.
Since then, Obasanjo has been accused of accepting inducement in some social media posts and publications.
One of his assistants, who requested anonymity in the conversation with DAILY POST, refuted the allegation.
He questioned why a man who served as both a military and civilian leader of the nation would sell his morality.
“I’m not allowed to talk in front of the public, but I can assure you that all of this is false information. How much money is required to purchase a person like Obasanjo? Since when has being one’s self a problem?”
When told of the accusation, the retired general reportedly moaned, according to the assistant.
He’s been getting calls from some VIPs about it. Baba brought up the subject because he was so furious.
“We researched and found that it was only one or two alternative news websites.”
