The 2022/2023 Nigerian Premier Football League continued its Matchday two midweek as Lobi Stars, Dakkada FC Abia Warriors picked up their first home wins of the season on Tuesday evening.
After the back of a 2-1 away defeat to league champions Rivers United in port Harcourt in gameweek one, Lobi Stars bounced back to produce a 1-0 win over Enugu Rangers.
The encounter was played at the New Jos Township Stadium, in Plateau State, saw the host score the winner in the 82nd minute through former Katsina united forward, Joseph Atule who scored his first goal for his new club after a 0-0 draw at halftime.
Victory for the Makurdi based club hands them their first win in group B while Enugu Rangers remain at the bottom of group B after their 0-2 home loss to neighbors Abia Warriors in the opening game of the season.
Dakkada FC continued their dream start to the 2022/2023 season with a 2-1 comeback victory over Wikki Tourist.
The Akwa Ibom based club entered into the meeting after a 1-1 draw away to newcomers Bayelsa United in Yenagoa at the opening fixture of the season.
Umar Danlami’s men had to get their first victory in a hard way, the team who finished just two points above the relegation zone last season, went behind just two minutes into the encounter at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
Ismailia Maiyaki who was on the bench for Wikki Tourists’s opening defeat to Niger Tornadoes scored his first of the season just two minutes on the clock.
Kufre Ebong then restored parity for the host in the 33rd minute before Aniekan Ekpe then completed the comeback for the home team in the 70th minute as they jumped to second in group B while Wikki Tourist have now lost their first two League games.
Abia Warriors kept their 100% winning start to the season with a 3-1 win over Bayelsa United.
The Umuahia based club who came out victorious in their opening game of the season, winning Enugu Rangers in a Southeastern derby 0-2, went in front just two minutes on the clock through Kalu Nweke.
Abia Warriors then extended their advantage five minutes after the hour mark through Bello Lukman, Bayelsa United then pulled one back in the 83rd minute before Henry Udezuka sealed victory for the home side three minutes later.
The win puts Abia Warriors top of group B and leaves the side with the only team with an 100% record this season while Bayelsa United remained eighth on the log after accumulating just one point from two games this season.
Last action on Tuesday saw record holders Enyimba international FC shared the spoils with Akwa United 0-0 at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba, Abia state.
The people’s elephant after picking a 2-1 away win against Nasarawa United in Jos on gameweek one, go top of group A ahead of other fixtures on the group, while Akwa United will remain in eight position.
