The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has expressed confidence that all the 20 Nigeria Premier Football League sides will honour their Match-day 1 fixtures as scheduled, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
The 2022/23 abridged league will according to the fixture kick off on Sunday, 8th January, 2023.
Despite the yuletide celebration break observed by the clubs, some have returned to training ahead of this weekend league opener.
According to an inside source at the IMC: “Everything in top gear for the season kickoff and we’re quite optimistic that all 20 teams will take part in the Matchday 1 fixtures.”
Champions Rivers United will begin its title defence with a tricky home fixture against Lobi Stars.
The 20 NPFL clubs were drawn into two groups A and B, 10 for each and not the usual North and South, as both groups had a mix of teams irrespective of the zones.
Meanwhile, the IMC has secured a 10-year partnership deal worth Billion Naira (N10 billion) with GTI Group. The Interim Management Committee has also announced One hundred million naira prize for the winners of the 2022/23 NPFL season.
