Enyimba opened their 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a 2-1 away win to Nasarawa United in Jos in a group A fixture on Saturday afternoon.
Finding George’s Men began their league campaign on the back of a 1-0 pre-season win over local rivals and NPFL club Abia Warriors last weekend.
A blistering start from the Elephants saw Abubakar threaten with a strike that went over the post in the first minute.
The elephants took the lead as Elijah Akanni scored with a screamer from yards out after he was set up by Chijioke Mbaoma in the 20th minute.
Enyimba in dreamland as Imo Obot increased the tally for the visitors with a stunning freekick from the right flank eight minutes before the break as the away side went into the break with a 2 goal lead.
Nasarawa United then pulled one back three minutes before the 90 as the referee signaled to spot after Pascal Eze handled the ball in the box.
Ikenna Offor then took the penalty as Ojo guessed right to make a stop before Oche Josiah headed home the rebound.
Despite the four minutes added time, Enyimba held on to a famous victory and moved into second place in group A while Nasarawa united dropped to 9th.
