Matchday seven action of the 2023 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season kicked off with two group A matches on Saturday evening as record champions Enyimba international FC picked up their second away win of the season while Nasarawa United win at home to Kwara United.
Enyimba international FC of Aba produced a comeback result to defeat Gombe United 2-1 at the platium stadium in Gombe state as they get their second away win of the season.
The home side struck first as Taiye Yusuf’s wonder volley from the right beat Gk John Nobel in the 12th minute.
Enyimba responded 10 minutes before the break through a wonderful freekick by Elijah Akanni to draw the game level for the visitors.
Taiye Yusuf missed a penalty kick for the host at the host at the end of the half before Emeka Obioma scored his fifth goal of the campaign to put the away side in front 10 minutes after the break as the Abia state side held on to a 2-1 victory which took them to second in group A.
The other encounter in group A saw Nasarawa United record an emphatic 2-0 victory over struggling Kwara United at the Lafia township stadium in Nasarawa state.
Goals from King Osanga in the 10th minute and Chinedu Ohanachom 54th minute handed the Solid Miners their first win of the season.
