The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) resumed from its Mid-season break with a Group B fixture in Uyo as Dakkada FC fell to a home defeat to Niger Tornadoes 1-2 under the scorching hot sun at the Nest of Champions.
A fixture which ended the first stanza of the league for both clubs saw Coach Danlami Kwasau of Dakkada FC made some changes to the side that lost in Minna 1-0 three weeks ago.
Despite the Gaffer’s changes, Niger Tornadoes went one up through Okoromi who missed a penalty kick in the second half of both club meetings on matchday nine with just six minutes on the clock for his fourth of the season, a goal which was assisted by Waheed Adebayo.
Niger Tornadoes who have struggled to win on the road this season with their last away league victory on the opening matchday of the season doubled their advantage in Uyo nine minutes after netting the first.
Winger Jonas Emmanuel was put through on goal by Around James who beat the goalkeeper with a beautiful chip as the Nasarawa state side took a healthy 2-0 lead into the break.
Dakkada FC who only recorded two victoires at home this season fought to get their noses into the game as their second half push resulted in a late Penalty kick in which Aniekan Ekpe scored in the 94th minute saw the hosts fell to yet another home defeat as they remained button of group B.
The win for Niger Tornadoes means they completed a league double over Dakkada FC for the first time in the league and also moved level on points with Sunshine Stars who sits in third place on the group.
While Dakkada FC have now conceded in 10 consecutive NPFL matches. They are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league this season – joint worst with Bayelsa United (P9).
