Against the backdrop of the ongoing disagreement between the IMC and the club Owners, there are indications that members-Clubs are set to proceed on a two weeks New year break.
According to a top official of the Club Owners Association, the move is coming on the heels of the unsettled matter of the Abridged league format proposed by the IMC and the straight league format which was overwhelmingly proposed by the club owners.
According to our source who is a Chairman of one of the NPFL Clubs ” We cannot be intimidated into agreeing to an abridged league when majority of us have voted against it”.
” We are aware that the Exco of the club owners have sent a position letter to the NFF, so while we are awaiting for their intervention, we have to release our players to go on new year break”.
He however added that the break is for those of the G-16 clubs and others who might join from the other four teams.
” Yes it is our collective decision, at least the break will afford us the opportunity to discuss with our Governors before the IMC Chairman meets with them at the Governor’s forum as he claimed “.
Meanwhile, our correspondent gathered that only 4 clubs attended the IMC draws held at Sandralia hotel Utako Abuja on Wednesday, as 16 clubs boycotted the event.
