Nigeria Premier Football League ( NPFL) Matchday eight resumed with midweek matches as Plateau United recorded their biggest win of the season while Bendel Insurance, Enyimba, Doma United, Dakkada FC, Wikki Tourist won at home on Wednesday.
Group A
Leaders Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 win over Nasarawa United at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City courtesy of Ebuka Akobundu’s 52nd minute striker which handed the home side their sixth win of the season.
Plateau United were the biggest winners of the midweek fixtures as Anthony Sunday, Eru Jackson, Ibrahim Mustapha, Tochuku Udeh and Uche Onwuasonaya gave the home side an emphatic 5 nil victory over El Kanemi Warriors at the new Jos Stadium.
The victory moved the Jos based club to third in group A as El Kanemi Warriors remained in ninth after eight games.
Record champions Enyimba international FC defeated Shooting Stars 2-0 at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba through Chukwemeka Obioma’s sixth and seventh goal of the season as the people’s elephant chased first place Bendel Insurance.
The last action in group A on Wednesday saw Kwara United play a goalless draw at home to Remo Stars as the host struggled to find their feet in the group after a very poor start to the season.
Group B
Dakkada FC recorded their second win of the season with a much needed 2-0 win over Sunshine Stars at the Nest of Champions in Uyo while Doma United defeated Abia Warriors 1-0 through Musa Usman’s 50th minute goal.
Wikki Tourists picked up their second home win of the season by inflicting League’s second defeat to group leaders Lobi Stars 2-1 at the Bauchi to move into eight place on the log.
Niger Tornadoes were held at home 1-1 by Bayelsa United after the hosts 26th minute lead was halted by a Robert Mizo equalizer four minutes before the break as both side’s dreadful start to the season continued.
River United’s home fixture against Enugu Rangers was postponed due to the home side’s continental engagement last weekend.
