Nigerian Billionaire Dozy Mmobuosi has insisted that he has not withdrawn his bid to acquire English football club Sheffield United.
The Nigerian businessman and tech entrepreneur, Dozy Mmobuosi made the claims after club owner Prince Abdullah had earlier confirmed that the plans to sell the club are still on track but admit that the takeover bid from Nigerian billionaire Dozy Mmobuosi is now ‘unlikely’ after the Nigerian has struggled to reach an agreement to purchase the club since it was up for sale.

In February, Dozy gained attention when it was revealed that he was poised to complete a takeover attempt for the club in a deal for roughly £90 million.
The founder and CEO of Tingo Dozy Mmobuosi used his social media accounts to make clear his position on the club acquisition, indicating that he and his advisors are still in negotiations to buy the team that just won promotion to the English Premier League.
“I wish to state categorically that I have not withdrawn my bid to acquire Sheffield United Football Club,” the Founder, Tingo Group posted on twitter.
He further went to address the money issues surrounding him and the club after Prince Abdullah said that the club did not owe him any money after reports claimed that Mmobuosi has paid a substantial amount of money to prove his commitment to taking over Sheffield United.
“Beyond the £8.85M GBP paid to United World, I will continue to work with the experts and professionals I hired to buy the club. Earlier today I had positive and constructive conversations with the club’s chairman Yusuf Giansiracusa and Chief
Executive Officer Stephen Bettis and I will continue to do so.”
Rounding up his statement, Dozy Mmobuosi who won’t give up his dreams to buy the club said that he is commitmented to the fans of the club, stating that he looks forward to moving the club into greater heights going forward.
“This is my commitment to the fans of Sheffield United and I look forward to reaching a positive outcome.”
According to the Athletic, Sheffield United was up for sale following the club’s financial struggles after the COVID pandemic while another report claims that there is a simpler reason why Sheffield United are available: “there can only be one English club in Saudi Arabia and that is Newcastle United.”
The former is evident while the latter has further been confirmed by the club’s owner and Saudi businessman after the blades gained promotion back to the Premier League last Wednesday when they defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-0 at Bramall Lane.
The promotion means that the club from South Yorkshire, Sheffield, England will finish behind sky bets championship winners Burnley as runners up and will compete in the English top-flight for the first time since their relegation in 2018/2019 season.
