The Niger State Police Command have arrested a civilian posing as a military officer.
The 35-year old Aliu Umar, who has been in the act for some time now, was reported to the police by members of the public, according to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun.
The PRO said he was arrested in Ibeto village of Magama Local Government Area of the state after they got intel of his presence there on July 31.
He added that Mr. Umar had on him the following: one military face mask, two ropes, three SIM cards of different network providers and N700,000 cash. Other things found on him were: Mercedes Benz marked BDG 300 TA, one NDA emblem, one military camouflage jungle hat and one military vest with belt
The PRO added that the police starting trailing Mr. Aliu after he abandoned a Honda Accord vehicle marked RBC 143 FF at Maje along Kotangora road in 2020 in a bid to evade arrest for a similar offence.
He added that the suspect who hails from Wawu-Garin Warra, Ngaski Magama Local Government Area of Kebbi, confessed that the he’s not a military officer but that the uniform belonged to his brother who is a military personnel serving in Warri, Delta State.
