Alhaji Gidado Siddikki, the leader of the South-East chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, has urged President Bola Tinubu to consider appointing its members in various roles within the Presidency, even if it’s as office sweepers.
Siddikki made this plea during a press briefing in Awka, emphasizing that their support and significant voting contribution of 85% were instrumental in President Tinubu’s victory in the February 25th, 2023 presidential election.
He expressed disappointment over the absence of Miyetti Allah members in appointments to boards, parastatals, and other government positions, including the recent ministerial nominations that the Senate reviewed.
He said: “We are demanding an appointment in Tinubu’s administration even as office sweepers, we are okay with it. All we want is for us to be part of the government at the centre.
“During the election to the best of my knowledge, my people (Fulanis), voted for President Tinubu because of his predecessor, President Mohammadu Buhari. Buhari told my people to vote for Tinubu, and they all did so.
“They prayed, supported, endorsed and do everything politically possible to ensure his victory. So he should not abandon us.
“In all the boards, parastatals and other appointments the President has made so far, no Miyetti Allah member is among, including the recent ministerial nominees screened by the Senate.
“Apart from exempting us from the N8,000 proposed palliative and other benefits of the Federal Government, the President should appoint us too, even as sweepers at the Presidential Villa we are okay with that.
