Born on 23 December, 2000. Victor Boniface Okoh is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Belgian Pro League side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Before his sudden emergence this season, the 22-year-old Nigerian forward made it to Europe through youth side Real Sapphire Football Club which is a Nigerian professional football club based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Boniface went to Europe by signing for Norwegian giants Bodø Glimt from Real Sapphire on 4 March 2019. He suffered a ligament injury only two weeks after signing for Glimt, which was said to keep him on the sidelines for most duration of the 2019 season.
He was part of the side who won the Norwegian top flight league in two conservative seasons i.e 2020 and 2021 season although, he only featured for 25 times scoring 7 goals in those two title winning seasons.
In his fourth season in Norway Boniface made 15 league appearances scoring six goals and creating one for his teammate, notching a total of 23 goals in 66 caps including scoring five times in four 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League qualifying games.
Which includes breaking a 15-year record in July, 2022 after his hat trick for Bodø Glimt in their 3-0 thrashing of Klaksvik in the Champions League preliminaries.
A story which wasn’t seen by many began when he put pen to paper on 8th August 2022 signing on a four-year contract in a deal worth two million euros with Belgium outfit Union SG in Belgium.
His arrival for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise has brought the energetic striker into the limelight in his first season with the 11-time Belgium league winners as his 7 goals and six assists in 29 caps has helped his team to second of Belgium Pro league with two points off leaders Genk as his side aim to win the title for the first time since 1934-1935 season.
Victor’s European form for his club this season has been the talk across all local media outlets in his father’s land Nigeria.
The forward has scored six goals and provided two assists in nine Europa League games this season inclined three in his last three Europa League games, putting him level on goals with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford as his side aim to move into the competition’s last four.
His current run of form might see him move to a bigger European club this summer as Napoli is already showing an interest in him after Victor Osimhen’s future at the club is increasingly becoming unlikely following the striker’s red hot form this term.
Victor Boniface is no stranger to the Nigerian team, although he hasn’t made his senior team debut yet but he was part of Nigeria U20 team to play the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, but had to withdraw from the squad due to injury.
His impressive form for his club might have head coach José Peseiro of the Super Eagles things to ponder about after the eagles recent run of form which has seen them score only a goal in their last five international games.
