After tensions erupted during the continuing compilation of the results of the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections, the authorities of Kano state imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew in an effort to maintain law and order.
The declaration was made in a statement released early on Monday morning by the state commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba.
The decision, according to him, was made to stop thugs from wreaking havoc in the already stressful environment.
The commissioner issued a warning to residents of the state to stay inside because security personnel would not spare anyone or any organisation out to stir up disturbance.
