One Mr. Okey Caleb has narrated what he learned about the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Caleb said he spoke to an elder, he didn’t name, who told him that during Tinubu’s reign as Lagos State Governor, the streets were filled with hoodlums and crimes, commonly known as ‘agberos.’
The APC are foisting Tinubu as the one who built Lagos. His campaign chief, Festus Keyamo has gone online and on national television telling Nigerians that the man who is called the Jagaban of Lagos transformed Lagos State transport system.
And in a recent speech delivered by Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima at the 2022 NBA Annual Conference in Lagos, the former Borno State Governor told the gathering that his principal met just an ambulance that belonged to the Lagos State Government when he took over power in 1999.
Caleb said, “I was opportuned to speak with an elderly Yoruba man who had spent most of his life in Lagos. We discussed Lagos under Tinubu, and i got a lot of eye-openers.
“He said during Tinubu’s time, agberos basically ruled Lagos, the streets were rough with crime and everywhere was dirty. He owed salaries, taxed the citizens to death, enriched his cronies, and groomed loyalists.”
“He said it was Fashola that actually transformed Lagos and laid the blueprint for what we see today.
Fashola reduced the ‘agberos grip’ on Lagos mainland and cleaned up the streets. He Reduced crime drastically as well.”
He added that Akinwunmi Ambode was ousted because like Babatunde Raji Fashola, he refused to play ball with Tinubu.
“He said at some point Fashola got tired of the way Tinubu was still looting Lagos treasury and tried to take action. Tinubu then tried to have him impeached by using Ambode, the Accountant general at the time and the Lagos house of Assembly.
“Lagosians had to protest against this at the Lagos assembly.
It was for this same reason Tinubu ensured Ambode lost his reelection bid when he got tired of Tinubu’s hold on Lagos treasury.
“The man said he can never support Tinubu even though he’s from his tribe and he wishedYouths would not be blinded by lies that Tinubu built Lagos. He emphasized that his time has passed, he had lived his life, trained his children, and it is now our time. The future of Nigeria rests in our hands and we must vote wisely in 2023.”
