One Sakiru Famuyiwa has been nabbed by men of the Ogun State Police for allegedly stealing two children from Celestial Church of Christ Ijeja area of Abeokuta.
The incident took place during yesterday’s Good Friday service at the church premises.
According to the church security guard, he saw Sakiru and another man making away with two kids, and he immediately raised an alarm.
Speaking to Daily Post, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Public Relations Officer of Ibara police division, said the suspect snuck into the children unit of the church while service was on and stole two kids with his accomplice, who is now at large.
He added that after the guard raised alarm, the congregants came chasing after them until they were caught.
The police were later notified, and were able to get to the scene before the angry mob could kill him.
The suspect is now in Police custody and the police are on the look out for his accomplice.
