The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed multiple attacks on Labour Party supporters who were attending their final campaign rally at the Tafawa Balewa Square in the state.
Confirming the incident which left several people injured, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the PPRO of the Command, said the injured are helping the police with information on what happened.
Peter Obi landed in Lagos State on Saturday to hold his final campaign rally before the February 25th election to much fanfare from his supporters.
However, many of the ‘obidients’ making their way to the venue of the event were attacked by hoodlums, beaten, machetted, and their vehicles pelted with stones.
Reports say the hoodlums also blocked 3rd Mainland Bridge in order to cut off those coming from the mainland.
#SafetyFirst: If you are going 2 #ObiDattiInLagos & u are on 3rdMainland Bridge, for your own safety, shut door of your bus & close windows. I witnessed a thug come out from under the bridge & stabbed a guy in one of the buses. Four others were under the bridge with cutlass 😭
