Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Lagos State, has asked Nigerians to put aside their resentment and hostility while also encouraging them to work with their leaders for the country’s growth.
Speaking during the Eid ul-Fitr prayer at the Dodan Barracks Praying Ground in Obalende, Lagos, Hamzat exhorted people to interact with one another in the fear of God rather than stew in resentment, hatred, and bitterness, which are bad for the nation.
He said: “We should get down to work and look away from anger and think of how to make the country work with our leaders.
“As leaders, we all should do well and know that it is everyone that will give an account of how they have lived their lives and it is high time that we all did our best well as parents, leaders and citizens.”
Finally, he also advised Muslims to have compassion and love for everyone and to understand that at the end of the day, everyone would give an account of their stewardship in life.
